Summer Opportunities with the Growing Young Farmers Society

The Growing Young Farmers Society is offering a summer workshop series for interested gardeners to expand their knowledge.  In addition to workshops provided by the GYFS, we are offering opportunities for local educators and teachers to offer their own workshops on a topic that they are passionate about themselves.  These topics may include any of, or related to the following:

  • Canning/Preserving
  • Plant Biology
  • Food Forests
  • Lasanga gardening
  • Hugelculture
  • Irrigation
  • Permaculture
  • Companion planting
  • Composting
  • Bugs: Friends or Foes?
  • Kitchen, or small space gardening
  • Herbs and their uses
  • Sprouting
  • Small scale farming 101
  • Introduction to gardening 101

Applicants must send an e-mail to, subject "Summer Workshop Proposal" consisting of a short paragraph describing their chosen topic, and any specialized equipment or spaces they will need in order to facilitate their workshop.  Applications must be in by May 24th. The workshops will be offered in conjunction with he GYFS, and workshop compensation is negotiable.
