Don't you love it when you're out for a walk, only to pass by a flourishing garden?
It feels like the plants are smiling, and the soil looks so rich you want to pick up a big handful and let it run through your fingers. We at Growing Young Farmers love this, and so do Panorama Recreation Centre and Food Forests Worldwide!
Together, we're building a mini food forest and vegetable garden for the students at Kelset Elementary School. This garden will provide an outdoor classroom for Kelset students, and for Panorama Recreation's Summer Camps. And we want to invite you to join us!
From 10am to 4pm we'll be on site at Panorama Recreation Centre building, creating and laughing together. Our goals will be to lay out the garden to prepare it for planting over the coming months. All volunteers will be provided a hearty lunch and a guaranteed good time. All helping hands are welcome to attend.
This is an incredible opportunity for the Growing Young Farmers Society to connect with the community, and re-design a garden to be nutritionally viable for and to students as they grow. Having worked with over 250 students, the Growing Young Farmers knows a thing or two about making farming and gardening fun.
If you can't attend but would still like to contribute to the Growing Young Farmers and their School Program, check out our Support or Donate pages for more information. We are incredibly excited about the opportunities we are providing to the youth of the Capital Region District and everything we do happens with the support of our community.
